The Host Plant Division of the Institute is mandated with exploration & management of different (primary & secondary) tasar host plants. With the activities of its different sections viz., Soil Science, Host Plant Improvement, Host Plant Protection and Agronomy & Farm Management, the division strides towards improvement in production & productivity of tasar host plants. It is also maintaining a Field Gene Bank having 341 accessions of different primary and secondary host plants of tropical Tasar silkworm Antheraea mylitta collected from different tasar producing areas of the country. A Tasar Technology Park is also being maintained for showcasing the activities of tasar culture to the visitors. The farm under Host Plant Division is spread over an area of 25.37 ha which includes FieldGeneBank:0.74ha,Nursery:0.35 ha and Natural Sal Forest: 2.0 ha.
